Solvane face care is natural skincare made for mature skin: cold pressed plant oils, bakuchiol instead of retinol, and vitamin C for tone. Blended in small batches in Estonia by HOIA homespa, posted from the UK within one working day. Most people start with one serum and one cream.

How to choose face care when your skin has changed

Skin behaves differently after forty five. Oil production falls, the barrier gets thinner, and cell turnover slows, which is why the same cleanser that suited you at thirty now leaves your face tight. The fix is rarely a stronger active. It is usually a richer texture and a gentler one.

Our face range runs on cold pressed plant oils rather than water. A conventional high street cream is mostly water with an emulsifier holding a little oil in suspension; when the water evaporates you are left with very little on the skin. A waterless formula puts the oils and butters on directly, which is why a pea sized amount of the Nordic Glow cream does the work of a fingertip of something thinner.

For firmness we use bakuchiol, pressed from babchi seed, rather than retinol. Published trials put it close to retinol for lines and firmness with markedly less irritation, no peeling phase and no added sun sensitivity. If retinol has beaten you before, this is where to start. For tone and brightness, vitamin C in the morning.

A sensible first order is one serum and one cream. Give it a fortnight before you add anything else, because skin takes about that long to show you what it thinks.

Questions people ask

What is the best skincare for skin over 50?

For most women over 50 the useful combination is a gentle firming serum, a rich waterless moisturiser and a brightening vitamin C for the morning. Bakuchiol suits mature and reactive skin better than retinol because it firms without the peeling phase. Start with two products, not five.

Is bakuchiol better than retinol for sensitive skin?

For sensitive skin, yes. Bakuchiol delivers comparable results to retinol on lines and firmness in published trials, but without the stinging, flaking and adjustment period, and it does not increase sun sensitivity. Retinol still works faster for skin that tolerates it.

Can I use vitamin C and bakuchiol together?

Yes, and they complement each other. Use vitamin C in the morning to brighten and protect, and bakuchiol in the evening to firm. They do not cancel each other out, unlike vitamin C paired with certain acids.

How long before I see a difference?

Hydration and comfort improve within a few days. Tone and brightness from vitamin C usually show at four to six weeks. Firmness from bakuchiol takes eight to twelve weeks of consistent nightly use, which is normal and matches the published trial timelines.
